Key Pickleball Rules

  • Court Setup: Games are played on a court similar to a badminton court, with a net slightly lower than a tennis net.
  • Serve: The serve must be underhand and made diagonally to the opponent’s service area. Serves must clear the non-volley zone (or "kitchen").
  • Scoring: Games are typically played to 11 points, and you must win by 2. Only the serving team can score points.
  • Double Bounce Rule: The ball must bounce once on each side of the court after the serve before players can begin volleying.
  • Non-Volley Zone (Kitchen): Players cannot volley (hit the ball in the air) while standing in the non-volley zone, which extends 7 feet from the net on both sides.
  • Faults: A fault occurs when the ball is hit out of bounds, into the net, or when a player violates the double bounce or kitchen rule.
